How to extract IP/DNS address of brokers MT4/MT5.

Instructions on how to determine the IP/DNS of a broker's MT4 which can then be used to test latency.

1. Start your MetaTrader 4 terminal.

3. Go to: File -> Open Data Folder.

4. After window opens. Go to the config folder where you will see the SRV files that store the Broker's MT4 Server information.

5. Open [SRV file] with [Notepad] - on this step Windows will probably message you that it can't open this type of file so you need to choose [Select a program from a list of installed programs] and there choose [Notepad] program.

6. Now you need to look for DNS/IP address entry inside that file.

7. Once found make a note of it and you can use it to run a trace for latency.
